I rode on the combine this morning...It was fun!

Its a bumper crop of wheat this year...unlike two years ago, it was a crop failure...yes, all due to weather...the dryland farmers that depend mostly upon the weather and some good-luck, well, this year, they are quite excited with the beautiful crop that is being harvested as I type.  It was fun to ride along for a couple hours this morning and snap away with my camera and to hear Tom comment at how nice the stand of wheat is...with hardly a weed in sight and my oh my, if you think Tom is excited, you should hear the FARMERS :)!!! Daniel said their "farmer talk" was speak he couldn't even understand!

Combining and Harvest Time!!!

 I was able to catch Tom and the combing operation one afternoon as I headed into town going to the library to use the wifi and my computer.  They were a ways off, but zoomed in my little camera and you can at least see them 'operating' and then 'dumping' the wheat into the truck.  This was their first week of combining, now they are into their second week of work, and because the week is looking so good this year and the weather has been so strange, it's looking to be a four week operation this time instead of three.

 This red combine was next to the old farmhouse and belongs to Greg's brother, John, just as does a fair bit of the land surrounding the place.  So, for a couple days there is quite a bit of combine activity and I was able to get some decent pictures.  As you'll see below, I decided to take my camera along for my walk yesterday morning and was fortunate to catch these pictures right along the road!

 Happy 21st Neil.....It was nice to get to celebrate his birthday with everyone, including Donna and Jamie.  So happy we came over to Seattle to take in the happy occasion.  It was a lot of fun!!!!!!!!!!

 Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww....What more can I say!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Daniel's NEW "Digs" in Kennewick

 Some garage sale items, some new items, but I think it looks pretty good for an 18-year-old kid.  The table and chairs was $25.00 from a yard sale!

 He bought the couch ensemble new, but got a pretty good deal on it!

 The coffee table and two end-tables came from a yard sale...super heavy and slate on the bottoms...all three pieces with beveled glass on top for $100.00.

 Dresser from a yard sale with all working drawers...$15.00!!!   And a bed for $25.00 and its in really decent shape!  Connie Flippo is a good garage sale shopper, lol :)

 I was taking a shower at Daniel's place when Tom and I were staying there for a few days and it surprised me when I looked over and saw this soda can in the pocket of the shower!  Now, I guess it shouldn't of surprised me...being a Foster and all!!!!  But, in the shower??????????????????????????

Shelby & Glacier, Montana

 We ended-up in Shelby, Montana on Saturday evening and so we were first in search of a motel, which it didn't take long to find...as there were several.  Then we began making a few phone calls that led us to Harry and Jean Benjamin.  Their daughter (in pink) is Marlene, and she labors in the Philippines and is on her home visit this year so we got to meet and see her too.  Harry has a heart condition so wasn't able to make it to meeting so we followed Jean and Marlene to meeting, and Jean's sister came over after meeting for lunch also and had lunch with all of us.  Her name is Joy.  Joy lost her husband not too long ago to cancer.  We enjoyed getting to know these folks.  The train and toys on the train were all built by Harry.  He's quite the handyman.  These folks used to live on the Devon Convention grounds and a few years ago, they moved off and into Shelby.  Now their grandchildren are living there.

Beautiful drive after we left Shelby, MT and our lunch and visit with the Benjamins.  We made it to a Motel 6 in Coeur d'Alene, ID for the night, then an easy drive that Monday to Kennewick that Monday to see Daniel in his new apartment.  (Motel 6's work good for us with our dog, Jack...)
