Today, Tuesday, Tom and Derek went with some of thefellows for a desert ride out to Jupiter Mine. They left
from here (home) and are still gone as I post this. It's
Tom's 50th birthday today...a half a century. Wow!

i knew it was his 50th, but it really didn't hit me til you posted this. crazy! you guys are kinda old.......... i kid i kid. 50 seems younger than ever as i near 23. almost half way to 50 myself. wow...
Hi Pam, I live in Australia. Congrats on your blog. Looks like a special family you have! I am writing to you because I have been researching my grandfather's cousin, Colin McIntosh (1860-1938), who owned and managed several mines across America. Colin was born in Australia. From your blog it seems that one of them may have been the Jupiter mine in the 1920s. I have found hardly anything about the mine and noticed that you have been up there. Would you possibly be able to describe what it is like up there for me please? Best wishes, Rob McIntosh
Hello Robert...yes, if you will send me your e-mail address I will talk with my husband about Jupiter Mine (I have been there a couple of times but not for quite some time) but he has been there MANY times as we can get there right from our home (riding out on the trails on our quads)...I'm thinking it's maybe 14 miles from here, or so...I'll talk to Tom about it...but if you could send your e-mail address, I will respond once I talk with him about it...it's a beautiful ride out there in the desert and whenever we go out there to the different mines, I always invision what it must of been for those pioneers (miners) so many years ago...to actually GET TO THE MINES would have been no small thing...they didn't have quads or cars but they'd of had to use mules/horses/etc. and then to get all that equipment there...it makes my mind swim to think of the trials of those who went before us. Will write again soon when I can shed more "light" on your question about Jupiter Mine. thanks for your response.
Hi Pam, The photos that you took of the Jupiter mine are very special. I really appreciate your efforts in helping my sister and I get a better idea of the mine and the area. It is a bit hard to do that when we are living in Australia!! It is amazing to think my grandfather's cousin was hiking around and working there at the young age of 67! Thanks again Pam, Rob McIntosh
