Cactus, Cactus, Cactus.....in bloom!

Every street has its view...
whether it's another house, some trees,
some water...this is our view
(ours is the place with the travel trailer on the right).
Our neighbor's prickly pear cactus.
(Ours is yellow...I think this is so pretty in reds).

This is another unique looking cactus. It's so
pretty in bloom, however, the blooms only
last a week or so.

Almost look like paper flowers.

So pretty to look at but not to touch.
All our little bursts of rain have made
a dramatic affect on all the desert.

The "Desert Storm" Boat parade and Boat ride...

Kirk & Mary's new boat. Kirk and Matt came
to Havasu this week. They invited us out for
a ride today on their boat since we were down
on the channel watching the "Desert Storm" Boats
here for the races tomorrow (Saturday)...the
boats are very expensive high-powered boats
that can go close to 200 mph.
Brother, Steve
Here for Casa Grande Convention
A week ahead for a little visit first.

The channel is busy today with all
the boats in town.

The London Bridge.
Lots of people on top of the
bridge watching all the boats
going underneath!

We had a nice time on it today.

"Something Old....Something New..."

The "Old" - - ME

The "New" - - My GLASSES...
What do you do when you have 5 1/2 hours to 'kill'
in Algodones, Mexico? Took my brother Steve down
on Tuesday to get some dental work done (a crown)
and they needed that much time in the lab to make it.
5 1/2 hours later I had found a new pair of glasses (2
hours in the lab to make them), Steve purchased a
leather vest, a leather cell-phone case and a leather
belt. I refuse to pay "full-price" for anything down there
and so I did the "dickering" for Steve...the Mexican man
told me "you sound like a Mexican..." I said "yes, when
it comes to this kind of thing, yes, a Mexican"...

Today, Tom and I and Steve, and friends
Richard and Mary went to the "Desert Storm"
Boat parade at the London Bridge Channel.
A gorgeous day.

Malia on her job as a cashier at Hastings.
Steve and I went down for a latte' and
a magazine and book to read.

We had rain yesterday. An unusual site for us,
but beautiful too! Its good to use your windshield
wipers occasionally!

Terry C. learned to wakeboard...

He came to Havasu for a few days since he was
in Vegas for some class for work. Derek went up
and got him on Friday and Tom will take him back
to Vegas on Monday for his trip back to Seattle.
We were all pretty impressed that he did so well for his
first time wakeboarding...I think he was up on his 4th
try...but then he actually stayed up and even went across
the wake and caught some air once...all without falling.
Way to go Terry!

In-N-Out Spread...

This tickled my funnybone.
Today, I went through the drive-up window and
got myself an In-N-Out burger, fries and a cup of water.
(yes, it was splurge, but so good)
I love their spread and you can ask for
a small packet of it "on the side" and you
put it in one of those little tiny ketchup cups.
There was a new employee...I could just tell he was
new...he was sweetly doing everything they asked him to
do...a younger kid. They brought my food to me (handed
it through the window) but NOT my spread, so the kid
came to the window and I said..."I didn't get my side of
spread"...(they'd already given me my little cup for the
spread)...so, he said, "Oh, I'm sorry...just a moment..."
And as innocently as could be he handed me this WHOLE
CUP of spread...this is how much was left AFTER I had what
I wanted and AFTER I spilled some over on my fries (accidently)
I didn't have the heart to tell him. I said "oh, that's a lot"
He said...Oh, I can take some out if you want..."
I said, "Oh, no problem, this is fine"....
Oh my word....theres enough spread for
a whole army there...so now I have a bunch
of spread....for what? I don't know, but it sure is good! :-)

Something to Think about...

Never deny hope to anyone, it might be all they have.

Don't make decisions when you are angry.

Take Care of your posture.

Don't pay for a job that is not finished.

Watch out for those that don't have anything to lose.

Learn how to say "no" politely and promptly.

Don't hesitate to lose a battle, if it can help you win the war.

Don't procrastinate, do things at the right time.

Don't fear saying "I don't know" or "I am sorry".

Watch a sunrise at least once each year.

Look people in the eye.

Say "please" and "thank you" more frequently.

Spend less than you make.

Treat others the way you like to be treated.

Learn how to keep a secret.

Acknowledge your mistakes.

Always speak the truth or keep quiet if it can hurt.

Don't share all that you hear or all that you think.

Praise people instead of criticizing them.

Learn the art of listening.

Don't believe all that you hear.

Enjoy beauty.

Don't lose your control, breathe deeply.

You are as you breathe.

Meditate for 30 minutes daily.

Enjoy your rest.

Preserve your friendships.

Be honest, earn respect.

You've got the right to be happy.

Discard hate and resentment, they will affect you the most.

3 things you don't recover: Said words, Time gone and opportunities.

Do one thing at a time.

Immortality exists. It is called knowledge. Ask what you don't know and remember it for when you are asked.

Discover pleasure in the elemental: Eating, breathing, walking, tasting, touching, seeing, sleeping and dreaming.

Happiness is like a bank, put in it as much as you can.

Age is a matter of mind, if you don't mind, it doesn't matter.

"Somebody Said..."

Somebody said it takes about six weeks to get back to normal
after you've had a baby...somebody doesn't know that once you're
a mother, "normal" is history.

Somebody said you learn how to be a mother by instinct...
somebody never took a three-year-old shopping.

Somebody said being a mother is boring...
somebody never rode in a car driven by a teenager with a
driver's permit!

Somebody said if you're a "good" mother, your child will turn out "good",
somebody thinks a child comes with directions and a guarantee!

Somebody said you don't need an education to be a mother...
somebody never helped a fourth grader with his math!

Somebody said you can't love the second child as much as you love the first...
somebody doesn't have two (or more) children!

Somebody said the hardest part of being a mother is labor and delivery...
Somebody never watched her "baby" get on the bus for the first day of kindergarten...
or on a plane headed for miltary boot camp!

Somebody said a mother can stop worrying after her child gets married...
somebody doesn't know that marriage ADDS a new son or daughter-in-law to a
mother's heartstrings!

Somebody said a mother's job is done when her last child leaves home...
somebody never had grandchildren!

Somebody said your mother knows you love her, so you don't need to tell her...
Somebody isn't a mother!

Fresh-squeezed Orange Juice???

Our neighbors on Aloha had way too many oranges and
lemons from their trees this year (it's kind of an every
other year thing) and so in March, they picked all the
excess and put them in boxes at the side of the road
with a "FREE" - "Help yourself" sign...so I walked over
with some plastic grocery bags and did just that.
After everyone helped themselves to eating what they
wanted, I decided to make juice with what was left of
them...

Oh Yum! Have you ever had just FRESH-SQUEEZED
orange juice...like REALLY fresh...there's nothing
like it. It's really yummy!
It took ALL these oranges to make...

ONE scant quart of liquid OJ.
Care to come and have a taste,
it's really GOOD! :-)
