Christmas Shirts from Anna & Zane...

So we received some packages in the mail today and we're wearing some of what Anna sent to us in the mail....she and Zane sent some "treasures" from Florida for us...so, we decided to model them for you Anna :-). Thanks too for all the other stuff! Dad wore his shirt to the gym today. I wore mine too...but his is pretty cute with the saying on it: "GET IN LINE LADIES"...as Snoopy is standing under the mistletoe. Thank you for all the goodies...

Self-Portrait down at the London Bridge...

The kids went down to see all the lights and this was a picture they took of themselves. Thought it turned out cute of them all.

Britney & Ciera Came to Visit...

Britney & Ciera came to see Daniel & Malia and spent the weekend here, coming from California. It was special to have them over...we had a good time playing games, the girls went shopping (what girl doesn't love to shop)! They also went down to the the London Bridge to see all the beautiful Christmas lights. It's a winter feeling in the air. We have NO snow but we sure have it cold here and so many we hear about have snow...it's pretty exciting!

Anna, this post is for you!!!

I know, I know, it's a "GUCCI" but not a real one...because I am 'clueless' about brands, and name brands are NOT important to me...I just go by the look and feel of something and if I like it, it doesn't matter to me if it came from the thrift store, garage sale or whatever. Tom & I went down to Mexico yesterday...I had a little bit of birthday money left from my October birthday, and so, I went prepared to bargain on a new purse! Here's the one I ended-up with. They started out with a $100 price tag, but I said "no way"...ended-up paying $35. That was the bottom price I could get them to come down to. It is well made and I'm happy with my new purchase.

More From Our Hike...

As you can see, we saw some beautiful scenery even out in the middle of the desert!!!

Hiking today...

Today, Tom and I went on a really neat hike here in Havasu out from Sara Park. It was 5 miles and we hiked down to the Lake. What a beautiful spot. We'd heard about this hike from others and so we finally made-up our minds to just "do it". Do it we did and it was well worth the effort!

Also, I've been making cards...

O.K., so besides making Derek's scrapbooks that were to be done last May (2008), I also love making cards...I normally go every Monday morning with some other professing ladies and we make a couple of cards at the card shop downtown. I got this idea to make several cards at home to give as gifts, so I've been busily making cards along with my scrapbooking, THUS, the house didn't get cleaned this week. Glad to say, I'm done with the scrapbooks (mostly), and can say the same with my card making for now! WHEW! Now I get to clean my house :-)

What I've been doing with my time recently...

I've been feverishly working on getting these scrapbooks (with an 'S') done, my ONE book has turned into two. I started it last year thinking I had lots of time to finish it by the time Derek graduated from high school. Graduation has come and gone and I didn't have them done in time to give Derek at graduation, so now I have finished them in time to take with us to Seattle and I can give them to him for Christmas! There are 82 pages all together, meaning there are 164 total sides (pages) I scrapbooked!!! I'm learning as I go. I made Anna's for her in a little over two weeks! How I did it that quickly, I'll never know. Now, I have two left to make for, Daniel & Malia when they graduate. That gives me two years. Theres always mistakes to learn by. Anna & Derek's I made as 8 1/2" x 11" sized books. They no longer make that many books/supplies etc. for that size, so I'll be switching to the 12 x 12" books for Daniel & Malia. Once again, I hope I don't put it off so I'm stressing to get them done in enough time. Procrastination always seems to find a little spot inside of me...and with winter setting in, it's trying to find a cozy 'home' there.

BEAUTY IN OUR OWN BACKYARD...

We watched this beautiful sunset from our window last night as we sat at our kitchen table, looking out into the back yard....aren't we lucky to have such beauty 'right in our own back yard'?

In the top photo along with Glen & Claudia is Bryan & Teresa from Kingman. They're the new couple that moved there for 5 years while Bryan does his residency there. We had Thanksgiving with them along with others over at Ron & Karen's home. The 2nd picture is Jean & I. Jean is Claudia's mom, and then at the bottom is a group photo of all of us at our house after Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving Holidays...

Glen & Claudia Timmans, their two, Aidan & Nadia came over the day after Thanksgiving for a visit, bringing Claudia's mom and dad, Joseph & Jean Epps and Claudia's younger sis, Jolena. We had a fun day with them and appreciated them sharing their company with us too!

"CHRISTMAS IS IN THE AIR IN HAVASU"

Last night Malia and I went down to the London Bridge "Polar Bear Swim". 23 brave swimmers swam from one side of the bridge to the other in 62 degree water in the evening cool air! Their ages were from 10 (our little neighbor boy) to 58 years old. All made it, but whoever reached the other side first got the privilege of turning on the "million lights" display under the bridge at the English Village and on the bridge. They coreographed music as the lights "danced" to Christmas music. Santa sat under the bridge entertaining little ones. It was a festive, fun evening.

Claudia Timmans, Malia & Julena Epps (Claudia's sis)

Timmann's came for a visit.

The Timmann Family from Kingman, AZ came for a visit yesterday bringing along Claudia's mom and dad from the South. Joseph & Jean Epps. Claudia's sister Julena who is a travelling nurse down in Tucson came along too. I used to take care of Aidan when they lived in Havasu. Little Nadia (Aidan's sister) is 2 now and Aidan is 4. It was special to have them all over here and Claudia made a delicious spinach/artichoke/cheese dip warmed in the oven. We ate that with crackers. Oh boy, my way to eat spinach!!! Tom & Daniel, Joseph, Glen & Julena all went out into the desert on our quads and enjoyed the ride and did a little target practice too.

LANDON PRAYING...

I was happy to know that Landon loves to play meeting nearly everyday...while we were on the boat he found this small step to get up and out of the boat...he sat on it, he stepped on it, he jumped off it, he played on it, but eventually, he got down on his knees and bent over as if to pray...and he said "I PRAY"...I was just happy that he has seen that example at home and so he knows what prayer is and is about...he stayed there for a short while, got up and went his merry way.

"Sometimes in the winds of change, we find our true direction"

"The best sermons are lived, not preached..."
"Even if you are on the right track you'll get run over if you just sit there..."

So Prim ~N~ Proper

Look at Jack's feet...he looks as if he's posing for the picture, but really he was just sitting up on our bed this way...I thought it was cute!

Man's Best Friend

Tom & I were going to go to the gym this afternoon and I came out to get Tom in enough time to spot Jack making himself to home. Jack is not what you'd consider a 'lap dog' as you have to coax him up to your lap or even on the couch for the most part...but he was feeling quite comfy and content this day.

Landon playing with Tom's John Deere Toy collection...he truly was being VERY careful, you can tell he's been taught to be careful with that type of thing...though he's not that way with every toy, but certain ones he knows to be careful with. Tom just had NO idea he was playing with them, but he was doing it under mine and Malia's watchful eyes. I told Landon...now you'll be real careful with Tom's tractors now won't you...and he said "yes, I be very c-a-r-e-f-u-l. And he was...

Maybe Landon will be a photographer someday. He is sure interested in the camera...taking lots of pictures all by himself. Not a pro yet, but he's sure working on it!!! And he loved looking at pictures, video's, the computer videos. They all kept him very entertained. But not to let you think he was completely entralled with all that...he did love the toys and books and played plenty with them as well.

Landon thought Malia's "FLUTE CASE" was his "SUIT CASE" and he carried it around, trying to put all sorts of special 'treasures' inside. It seemed to be just his size!

I just love the look on Landon's face...he's laughing with glee as he's looking at pictures of himself on Malia's camera. He loved looking at the videos of himself. He'd just laugh like there was no tomorrow...it wasn't just once, but everytime he'd get her camera and say; "I want to see the movie"....and the laughing would start again. It sure was cheap entertainment, not only for him but also for us too as we giggled just watching him and listening to him!

"EVERY HAND NEEDS A LITTLE HANDHOLDING EVERY NOW AND THEN"
"When the wind arises it unfurls the flag and shows who and what we represent. Our nature wants it to be calm most of the time, but a small wind shows where we're at and who we represent"

Landon is 3 now...

Aaron & Lori, Ryan & Landon Stallings came for a visit from Ohio...they arrived on Monday in time for supper...we hadn't seen them or how much little Landon had grown for over 16 months...needless to say, at three-years-old, he has gone from baby-like to toddler-like and from not talking to talking up a storm if he's in the mood. He's still a cute little "fella"...he doesn't have a very big appetite for very many foods...but he's a bundle of sweet energy! His big brother is Ryan and turns 12 the first of December. Once they leave for home and I have all the pictures I can take, I'll get them down-loaded and posted onto the computer and this blog...not all of them, of course, but some. He doesn't love his picture taken too much...sometimes he says: "no more pictures". When you ask him his name he says very readily "Landon Clarke". When he's happy, he's all smiles and a doll. He's taken to Malia, so she's been able to get plenty of pictures too, so between the two of us...we should have plenty.

Flagler Beach...

Flagler Beach, Florida--it wouldn't be too hard to take living CLOSE to this beach...it's just beautiful...

Then she turned 21!!!!

Anna and I on her 21st birthday. How nice for us that we could be with her/them on her birthday, IN Florida. Zane made her this cake all by himself...he even decorated it...I was impressed! He got her 21 long-stemmed roses..."what a guy"....

Anna & Zane

Some one's missing from our pictures.....instead of "WHERE'S WALDO"...you may be wondering "WHERE'S ANNA"....many of you know that she and her hubby Zane are living in Florida...we've been there twice to see them...they've treated us royally and it's been fun each time we were there. They live in the coolest apartment right next to the ocean...it's beautiful there.

Tom & his new glasses...October 31, 2008

Earlier this year Tom decided to shave his moustache after having it since he was 17 years old, I believe...we all voted that we liked the change...then we decided he needed new glasses, so on Halloween day, we went and picked them up from JC Penneys. We like that new addition too. Changes are good for all of us...sometimes we just change in many different ways. We like the subtle changes here.

On Turning 50 years old...

THEN SHE TURNED "50"...AND SHE RECEIVED TWO BEAUTIFUL BOUQUETS OF FLOWERS FROM THE ONE SHE'S LOVED FOR THE PAST 24 1/2 YEARS...LUCKY ME!!!

Brotherly/Sisterly LOVE...(most of the time anyways)

So Derek flew home for his first visit the first part of October, his first time since moving to Seattle...lots of "firsts" :-) This was taken on Sunday morning before meeting when the kids were dressed and ready for the day. His visit was only 4 days, but it was packed-full of good times!
