B-U-D-D-I-E-S

Because Jack is 15 (old for dog standards :) and Sally (mom and dad Foster's mini dashaund) is 1 1/2 years old, they haven't always been best of friends...Sally was too rambunctious at first and Jack, too old and mellow.  But, it's amazing to see how they have become such good friends.  They actually like each other, and I don't think Jack just 'tolerates' Sally but Jack actually likes Sally...but it sure wasn't a "match made in Heaven".... They had six-plus months together this past winter down in Arizona and did great together.  They have fast become buddies and friends!

MOM FOSTER'S WEDDING DRESS!

Some of you know that we are in Seattle helping Tom's folks pack up the old home that they have inhabited for the past 44 years in Ballard....today, mom came across her old wedding suit she wore on December 5, 1953.  She plans to give it to GOODWILL, so I thought I would try it on so I would at least have a picture of it.  Someone will be happy to have a VINTAGE suit :)  The cap (above) she also wore...it kind of fits flat on your head over your bun...ha ha.  Mom said hats were really in style then.  The suit was quite large, I had to pin the skirt, but it was fun to try on.  The buttons down the front are a sage green, so I thought it interesting that the hat was a blue velvet. It sure looked nice on mom in the wedding picture we have of the folks on their wedding day back in 1953...it was made for someone taller and bigger than me (I have the skirt pinned in the back), mom thought it is maybe a size 10 or 12 and said she would never be able to fit into it again...but it was fun to bring back some memories and a few laughs for mom and dad and Tom and get a couple of pictures while we were at it!

SWEET 28!!!

Hard to believe that 28 years have already gone by.  June 16th...how is it?  I see people and see how much people and things have changed, and feel like so much has changed...perhaps outwardly, and hopefully there has been maturity and growth...Tom asked me WHERE I would like to go eat for our anniversary...two places came to mind (of course, a couple places we don't have in Havasu), one was Spaghetti Factory, and the other, Applebees.  Well, he was thinking of Spaghetti Factory himself...so, I guess when you get "old" and married as long as us...you start thinking alike.  lol :)  I love the chicken marsala and spaghetti with mizithira...even had enough for breakfast the next morning. Oh yum!!!

WHATEVER...

Whatever
Whatever you think, never think what you feel
You would blush, in the presence of God, to reveal;
Whatever you speak, in a whisper or clear,
Say nothing you would not like Jesus to hear.

Whatever you read, though the page may allure,
Read nothing of which you are perfectly sure
Consternation at once would be seen in your look
If God should say solemnly, "Show me that book."

Whatever you write, though in haste or in heed,
Write nothing you would not like Jesus to read;
Whatever you sing, in the midst of your glees
Sing nothing His listening ear would displease.

Whenever you go, never go where you fear
Lest the great God should ask you, "How camest thou here?"
Turn away from each pleasure you'd shrink from pursuing
If God should look down and say, "What are you doing?"

Whatever you wear, can you be very sure
That the feelings it quickens are blameless and pure?
Would your face be unblushing and conscience be clear
Should your wardrobe be opened and Jesus appear?

When you think, when you speak, when you read, when you write,
When you sing, when you walk, when you seek for delight,
To be kept from all wrong when at home or abroad,
Live always as under the eyes of the Lord. ~ ~ ~

BALLOON FEST 2012

Went over on the island today to watch the 2nd Annual Balloon Festival.  They had a "mass exodus" of ballons take-off at 4:30 pm so mom and I wanted to go watch it and found a parking spot.  The festival lasts for four days...Thursday through Sunday.  Not for sure if I'll actually go TO the festival or not yet, these pictures are taken from a couple blocks away, but it was so beautiful to just watch them on a beautiful day of 70 degrees, with NO breeze.  It costs $185.00 to go up for a ride in one of them, so quite spendy.  I love some of the colorful balloons, and some of the funny shaped ones.  There are 60 balloons this year at the festival and over 200 vendors, over double the size of last year.  Humpty Dumpty, notice how he came down to land and I caught the picture where it looks like it is landing on a mini-van and there is a "stop" sign. I think it's a funny picture!  I also think the balloon that is an upsidedown man is pretty funny too :)  About as funny as the side-ways smiley face I always use :)

Babies Grow up so Quickly!

Malia's little Missy was born in September 2011 and is getting so big already! I can hardly believe it.  She brings her over every week or two, but it's hard to believe how BIG she is.  Malia is our baby too, and it's hard to believe that our "baby" is grown up and gone from home!

SUSHI BAR

As we were getting hungry one day
We decided to head to the China Buffet.
When we got there they gave us a seat
And then it was off to fill our plates and eat.
After eating plenty of good food
Ol' gramps was still in the dessert mood
So as he headed down the aisle,
No doubt with a nice big smile.
But he headed down the wrong road,
And up to the sushi bar he strode!
As he loaded up his plate in a pile,
He came back to his seat in awhile
Still wearing that mile long grin,
Couldn't wait for some to dribble down his chin.
When we saw what was on his plate,
Pam didn't have the sense to wait;
She alerted him of his great mistake
And warned him it would taste nothing like cake.
He took a small bite of the outer rice.
We knew he didn't think it was fit for mice!
I don't know what happened to the lesson he taught
of cleaning up our plates; he must have forgot!

Sally

One day a little dog mom and dad did inherit
sometimes she's into mischief and they can hardly bear it!
They named her Sally, she's cute as a 'bug's ear',
And now love her much, they always want her near.
Though Sally does cause them some strife
She now keeps them from living a boring life.
What Sally does, she does quite hearty
She is always the life of the party.
Even when we say or sing a grace at the table
We wish her voice we could disable.
She likes to join in and give it her best
The others of us wish she would give it a rest!
One day mom cooked up some gizzards to eat
But Sally too thought they would be a good treat;
When mom's attention went way too slack
Sally was up on the table eating her snack.
Pam was uptight with Sally awhile
But over time her heart has softened a mile.
Around the table there are many games we play
And on mom's lap is where Sally wants to lay.
When mom is not at her place at the table,
Pam's lap is now made ready and able.
Often when we sit or lay down,
Sally will come and kiss or cuddle around
She loves to lick and smear your glasses;
you'd think our faces were made of molasses.
Sometimes she just doesn't have any class,
And you just want to paddle her little mass!
One of the first nights she spent,
During the night dad had to arise
And stepped in the 'present', an unpleasant surprise!
When Jack goes to the dog dish to eat,
Sally comes running to interfere with the treat
But Jack is so gentle and easy to please,
He just backs away, Sally's appetite to appease.
There is so much more of Sally to be told
But a book would then begin to unfold.
yes, it's true and in all reality
She has quite a special personality.
She can be such a meanace you'd think she was a boy,
But changes her mind like a girl to annoy!
