I have learned that every YOGA pose has a name
that is related or connected to something in nature.
Usually an animal name or a name in nature. I don't
remember all the names to the poses I've learned, but
these are ones we've done lately. 3 hour and a half
classes a week...really helps with the flexibility. I am
amazed to be able to do things I did as a teenager.
Thats not saying a whole lot, but I actually feel better
with the added flexibility I've gotten since adding Yoga
to my schedule. It's been a good addition!
Nose to knees
Nose to Toes!
Some sort of butterfly in the air pose!
Just did this pose today and already
can't remember the name...
Up and Over to touch the toes to the floor.
I think this is the balancing tree pose.
And another balancing pose.
Try it...its easy to go t.i.m.b.e.r.r.r.r.r (ha)
The flying half-moon, I think.
Recently conquered the head-stand.
No small feat for a nearly 52 year old!
Nose to Knees Stretch. It wasn't
that long ago that I couldn't do this
(reach the knees, that is!)
Head to Floor with straight legs.
Name? Tell me if you know.
Another stretch and balance we did today.
Don't know the name of this one either.
Yes, I know, I wouldn't make a very good
teacher. Sorry.
The infamous "PLANK"
We don't have to hold this too long, however, in
an aerobic class I take once a week, she makes us
hold the plank for it seems a LONG time!
"Silliness Pose"....Malia (she was my photographer)
kept making me laugh and
so I finally just rolled over and we laughed and laughed.
And she caught me in the "act"....
Nose to Knees...A great stretch for your
legs. Our yoga instructor, Marlo, said that you
NEVER perfect poses but that it's something that
you continually work on and work on and progress.
But she said, you can't ever feel like, well I have this
one perfect because it will never happen, its just
progressing.

mother. you are sooooooo funny. this post is equally amusing as it is impressive!!! so inspired by all your progress & am so glad that you're feeling/enjoying the benefits that yoga has to offer- keep it up!
p.s. i stole your weather thing! sweet idea!
Wow! I'm so impressed and inspired! Makes me want to try yoga!! I like the thought that you never perfect something either... always progressing
Looks like you're getting really good at this! I'm hoping to join the YMCA soon...they have yoga classes, so maybe I will get in on that. I just know a handful of poses, and it would be fun to learn more. (One of the best for flexibility that I know is called "the pigeon!")
Well, goodnight Pam! I'm totally IMPRESSED! You're LOOKING GOOD! It really makes me want to get back into doing yoga! I liked it when I did it (which was only about once a week) but that's really hardly enough time to get the benefits from doing it more often! I like the idea of becoming more flexible because as I age, I creak around like an OLD LADY (and I really don't like that!) and I'm sure (after my partial knee replacement) it would be very beneficial!
