More Friends in Jamestown...

After Sunday morning meeting we went out to lunch with Brian & Julie Stockwell.  Really enjoyed catching up with them after four years!!!

Wilfred & Thema Aarestad and their son Mike Aarestad from Fargo.  Mike came to help celebrate his mom's 86th birthday this Monday, June 27th.

Vernon and Cleo Harr.  Tom knew them from years and years ago, retired farmers.  They invited us out to dinner.  It was a fine Mexican feast!  They wanted to know if we still played Rook.  "yes"... "would you like to come over and play"  "sure".  The women against the men.  The results:  The women won one game, the men won one game.  So we had to play the 'rubber'....the men won! :)

Bill & Linda Snyder.  Bill is recovering from double replacement hip surgery (very successful by the way).  Enjoyed lunch at Applebees together and catching up after four years!  We visited long enough I think we were going to have to order supper!
While we were inside enjoying our visit someone was outside and ran into our car and scraped it, and of course, didn't leave a note or a phone number.   Grrrrrrrrrrrr.  Tom has since wiped it down.  It left some scrapes.  With a $500.00 deductible, not sure what we'll do.  He thinks he can maybe buff it out and touch it up with some touch-up paint.  Yesterday he found a screw in our tire, fortunately, we were near a gas station so they were able to repair it.

Jamestown, North Dakota

Tom's brother Steve was home for a day before he left for the oil fields and back to work.  This is one of his trucks that he uses to haul water up in the oil fields...the truck and trailer.  He and Tom were getting it hooked up and ready to go.

Yes, Jamestown has lots of water, but nothing like Minot and some other parts of the state!  Those white things you see are the tops of a bridge under the water!  The farmers are bemoaning ALL the rain, but it is worse in other parts of the state.

This is Harvey and Hazel Holzwarth, a couple Tom lived with and worked for when he was just 17 years old!  Harvey is now 93 and Hazel is 87.  They do well living on their own, Harvey still drives!
They just renewed Harvey's driver's license for five more years!!!
Lyle, Alvin and Glenda Baker (cousins of Tom's on mom's-Myrna's side of the family).  We had lunch with them @ Perkins in Jamestown.  Lyle lives in Buchanan.
Met up with Randy and Lisa and their son, Nick @ Paradiso Mexican restaurant.  Randy and Lisa got married a week after Tom and I (27 years ago), Tom was in their wedding.  After they got married the four of us drove out to Seattle together on our honeymoon!  (27 years ago this June).
While having supper together with Randy & Lisa who walks in but our niece, Jamie Jo from Minnesota!  What a surprise.  We didn't think we'd get to see her but she came to Jamestown for the weekend to see some of her girlfriends.  So, this morning we met up with her at The Depot for brunch.  It was great to see her and catch-up on what she's been doing lately.
We made it to the Pingree Cemetary today...Tom wanted to find the graves of his aunt and uncle and we think this picture below is of Grandpa Foster (Tom's dad's father) but it just says:  "FOSTER".
We walked around the whole cemetary and Tom found LOTS of people he knew and names he knew.  He was glad for that stop as he has wanted to do that for a long time.

I found this house to be VERY interesting, not because its that unique or anything, however, the window next to the door was ajar and being held up by an open whisky bottle (this picture doesn't show it), and the wall next to the front door is covered by antlers is pretty unique, or that there is hardly a stitch of paint on the house, or that the lawn isn't mowed, or that the 80+ year old man that lives in the house sleeps on an old army cot, or that it is several miles from town, but I think the thing that intrigues me the most...his name is Billy Dietz (that is NOT the correct spelling btw) but how it sounds...is that the man has millions of dollars and chooses to live this way!!!!   Now, isn't that an interesting story!  We saw him out on his 4-wheeler rounding up his cattle.  Just an ordinary looking man.

Oops, I forgot to add some from Stallings...

This was a wonderful toasty bonfire and we made s'mores.  Landon had fun burning marshmallows.  They were actually NOT edible when he was done with them, but he sure had fun with them!

What a little cutie pie!!! 5 1/2 years old!

Smile!

Pam and Landon @ Stallings.

The bonfire was just perfect!!!!

Landon dressed for his first day of soccer practice!

We took a two mile walk and Landon rode his razor!

Lori's aunt and uncle,John & Mandy Lehman.  (Lori's dad and John were brothers).  John and Mandy were Amish before hearing the gospel.  They have 10 children.  4 professing, married with children, 3 in the work...Titus Lehman you may have heard of.  They have two daughters also in the work.  They still have three children that are still Amish.  The four pictures in the back of John and Mandy are their professing married children.

Ryan and Landon on John and Mandy's tree swing.

All around John and Mandy are Amish neighbors...

Ryan and Landon.  Ryan is 14 and Landon is 5.

Ryan plays the violin quite well.

Aaron and Lori took us on their pontoon boat. Landon is being silly here with his sweatshirt.

Aaron and Tom...

Landon taking a little "catnap"...

South Dakota with Carlsons...

Gavins Point Dam, Yankton, SD
This dam doesn't normally have this much water boiling through, but they have had so much rain there is just so much water pouring through here, it's pretty amazing to see this!

Lots of mist, you could get pretty wet if you got too close to this part of the dam!

Just like a big boiling pot of dirty water!!!

Our wonderful hosts took us all around and showed us some of the sights near their fair town of Beresford, South Dakota.  We enjoyed our time with Ron & Sandy.  They are farmers most of the year but come to Havasu during the winter and we get to enjoy them during that time!!!

We had never been to Sioux Falls, the falls OR the City.  We were told that the city of Sioux Falls is the largest city in South Dakota.  This park where the falls is is so pretty as you can see from the pictures of the falls, below.
